Tough economy gives way to fuller-figured lingerie

Posted in lingerie on January 20th, 2011 by Jill – Be the first to comment

Who would ever imagine that economics will help tell how women will want their lingerie to become. The tough times might be contributing to the global trend of women having a fuller figure.

Experts see it as women wanting to enjoy themselves after going through or while going through a long stretch of hardship. This was last seen during the 1950’s just after the war, but this time the economic crisis seems to be motivation.

Trend spotters are expecting the trend to rule the biggest lingerie fair this year, the Salon International de la Lingerie  happening in Paris on 22 January.

What should we expect? Lingerie designers might be withdrawing from the demi bonnet push up bras and the minimalist thongs and go for high waisted briefs and bullet bras in black. Some samples on display in Paris make use of lace, satin, and silk.

Women want to enjoy their body’s natural curves this time after trying to be thin all these years. According to studies, the female body has also evolved to gain some centimeters around the chest and the hips. Designers cannot deny the fact that the lingerie must adapt.

During the international lingerie fair, Triumph International will roll out their Essence luxury line as part of their 125th year. The company will also push for their Shape Sensation line which makes use of elastic fibers to give women a shaping effect.

Wacoal will also be promoting their brief line that makes use of fibers impregnated with Vitamin E, Vitamin A, aloe vera, and caffeine. This according to them will help women in combating cellulites.

Discover Romance In Beautiful Vintage-Inspired Lingerie

Posted in Vintage lingerie on June 30th, 2010 by LLS – Be the first to comment

Retro Lingerie PicToday’s modern woman is no wallflower.  She is sexy, confident and self-assured.   Corporate America is lining its boardrooms with women who are educated, capable and powerful.  Even with glass ceilings crashing down everywhere, women still want to be women.  Not to many of us want to go to work in a 3-piece suit and a tie.  We love to be pretty.  We love to be sexy.  We love romance.  We still love being girls.

Pretty and beautiful lingerie is flying off the racks everywhere.  Gone are the days of simple and practical basics being the norm.  Women want much more in their lingerie choices and are willing to pay for it—even if it is hidden underneath a more serious suit.

It’s no wonder then that there is resurgence in the popularity of vintage-inspired lingerie pieces.  The vintage look is vaguely reminiscent of undergarments our mothers may have worn, except with a decidedly modern twist.  These pieces are not designed for function and practicality as much as they are made for their utter beauty and sexiness.  These looks love the female body and it’s curvature.  These retro looks truly epitomize the femme fatale intrigue we girls crave.  This lingerie does take it’s style inspiration from the past, but will be embraced by today’s modern woman for it’s simple elegance and classic styling.  The result is sexy lingerie perfection—beauty and sexiness at its finest hour.

Vintage-Inspired LingerieVintage lingerie stores are popping up all over with offerings that are almost too pretty to cover up.  Items you may not have envisioned yourself wearing not only will you want to wear, but they may find their way to the top of your lingerie wish list.  Some of the sexiest vintage looks include garter belts with beautiful thigh-high stockings, corsets, and bustiers.  Seamed hosiery and fishnet stockings are also incredibly sexy and seductive with a definite retro look.

Satin slips and chemises are also making a comeback.  These romantic looks remind one of the glamorous movie actresses of another era, but are very modern and romantic for today’s aspiring woman.  The best part of the vintage look is its focus on romance.  The fabrics are girly, sheer, satiny and sexy.  The retro look is very subtle, yet it screams passion and intrigue.

It’s not surprising that sometimes we have to take a look into our past to discover our future.  Vintage lingerie puts the focus on a woman’s body, accentuates its curves in a flattering way and makes you feel positively beautiful.  These looks may cost a bit more, but are considered almost classic investment pieces.  Who knows– considering the timeless and seductive beauty of vintage lingerie, it may very well be what inspires another generation somewhere down the road.

We did some sort of detective work and tried to identify the lingerie featured in the flick. Enjoy these great finds:

If you have seen SATC 2, you might remember Carrie Bradshaw dining with Mr. Big? Look through the wine glass and have a glimpse of the Infrared Peacock from La Fee Verte. Don’t you just love how she does layering of the bra as the outerwear.

Small Busts … How To Make It Look Bigger: 2

bright-topWhile there are ruffles that can do the trick, there are also colors that can truly make your bust look a little bit bigger and those are bright colors.  If you opt for bright colors on top and darker colors on the bottom, you are definitely going to even out your body a bit and you are certainly going to make your bust look larger.

If you going for the black and white option, your bottoms should be black and your top should be white that way you can make sure that your body is pretty balanced out.  This illusion will also make your bust look a lot fuller, which is the entire point of course.

You can also choose some small details at the bust, for example, peasant tops are fantastic for this.

Alternatives to the Bare Legs Fad: 2

toeless 3There have been lots of new inventions in the world of lingerie in general, and the world of stockings in general.

One such innovation are toeless stockings. This gets rid of that undesirable look that occurs when women wear stockings as well as open toed shoes.

Because these stockings have no toes, you see nothing even if you wear a pair of peekaboo pumps.

Of course, there is no saying that you cannot still wear close toed shoes in the spring and summer.

If you choose to go this route, then guess what? You can also still wear traditional stockings.

However, try making them sheer, maybe with a little sparkle! This will give your legs a lovely glistening color!

tan 3I hate this whole bare legs trend, and I know a lot of women are there with me. Even if we have awesome, shapely, long, gorgeous legs, not all of us want to go out wearing them bare all the time — especially simply because the style gods up on the fashion version of Mount Olympus tell us we have to.

So how about a few alternatives? Like, if you want to actually try this trend but don’t want to flash off your pale legs or bake in the sun.

Well, here, you have two options. For one thing, you can try sunless tanners. Lotion or spray, with little fuss and a teensy bit of muss, you can have golden skin.

Or leg makeup — also good for covering up tattoos!
