Tough economy gives way to fuller-figured lingerie
Who would ever imagine that economics will help tell how women will want their lingerie to become. The tough times might be contributing to the global trend of women having a fuller figure.
Experts see it as women wanting to enjoy themselves after going through or while going through a long stretch of hardship. This was last seen during the 1950’s just after the war, but this time the economic crisis seems to be motivation.
Trend spotters are expecting the trend to rule the biggest lingerie fair this year, the Salon International de la Lingerie happening in Paris on 22 January.
What should we expect? Lingerie designers might be withdrawing from the demi bonnet push up bras and the minimalist thongs and go for high waisted briefs and bullet bras in black. Some samples on display in Paris make use of lace, satin, and silk.
Women want to enjoy their body’s natural curves this time after trying to be thin all these years. According to studies, the female body has also evolved to gain some centimeters around the chest and the hips. Designers cannot deny the fact that the lingerie must adapt.
During the international lingerie fair, Triumph International will roll out their Essence luxury line as part of their 125th year. The company will also push for their Shape Sensation line which makes use of elastic fibers to give women a shaping effect.
Wacoal will also be promoting their brief line that makes use of fibers impregnated with Vitamin E, Vitamin A, aloe vera, and caffeine. This according to them will help women in combating cellulites.
